From June 21st to June 24th, CARIBSAN organised a face-to-face training in Martinique on treatment wetlands for urban wastewater treatment in tropical context.
On Friday 20 May 2022, the CARIBSAN project partners concluded their institutional and technical mission in Havana with the 5th steering committee meeting. At the end of the mission, a partnership framework agreement was signed by the various representatives of the institutions involved in developing the Constructed Wetland* technology, a wastewater treatment technique inspired by the natural heritage of the Caribbean.
The third CARIBSAN webinar took place on March 17th with the goal to inform the technical staff of wastewater utilities in the Caribbean about treatment wetland technology.
From January 24th to January 31st, the CARIBSAN team travelled to Dominica, St Lucia and Martinique for its first on-site mission.
On January 20th, the second CARIBSAN webinar took place with the objective of informing the technical staff of Caribbean wastewater utilities about treatment wetland technology.
CARIBSAN held its second Steering Committee meeting online on December 17. Porgress have been made thanks to partners’ involvement.
On 8th December 2021 took place the first CARIBSAN webinar with the objective of informing water utilities in the Caribbean on the functioning of treatment wetlands technologies.
Today 19 November is World Toilets Day. An occasion to recall that, although having access to adequate sanitation system is at least as important as having access to drinking water to reduce water borne diseases, sanitation systems are underfunded, poorly managed or neglected in many parts of the world. This has devastating consequences for health, economics and the environment. Massive investment and useful innovation are needed, including in the Caribbean.
On 27 & 28 September 2021 the virtual inauguration of the CARIBSAN project and the first meeting of the project's Steering Committee took place. About 80 people participated.
The CARIBSAN project is co-financed by the INTERREG Caribbean program under the European Regional Development Fund, by the French Development Agency and the Martinique and Guadeloupe Water Offices.
